Other Diagnostic Tools

Thanks to Sam Jones.

For all you hard-core self modifiers (and DIY repair technicians - ed.) out there (you know who you are), I thought you might be interested in the following. Thexton makes a really nice breakout box for troubleshooting the EEC-IV; problem is the list price is $456.96. However, factory reconditioned units are now available (in extremely limited quantities) for $199.95. I bought one and it is almost like new and includes all the original accessories and manual.

Ted Breaux says:

I've had one of these for a few years now. It sits on the passenger side floorboard with the EEC attached right to it. I must admit that it is a nice diagnostic tool (i.e. being able to check the voltage at any sensor from your seat), but unless you are a service tech, I'd probably save the $$ and get a scanner. It does look pretty 'cool' though, and I am always asked, "What the heck is that gizmo in your car!?"
